Olumide Needs Your Help

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you already know, since 2008, Olumide has been courageously battling End Stage Renal Disease. For over a year now, he has been on dialysis three days per week, five hours a day. This is keeping him alive. Olumide has struggled through many medical complications and over 14 hospitalizations in the last year alone, and a life-saving kidney transplant is now his only chance of survival.

Olumide is on the active transplant waiting list at St. Luke’s Episcopal hospital. We are in the process of transferring his records and time to Methodist Hospital. However, due to the extraordinary expense of transplantation, as well as Olumide’s inability to work, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that we will need to pay out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles and Olumide will be on a lifetime of anti-rejection medications estimated to cost between $20,000 and $40,000 yearly for life. The doctors are also requiring that we have $10,000 before he can be transplanted. This presents a challenge we cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.

A fundraising campaign in Olumide’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
