Oman Osman

Family and friends of Oman Osman are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Oman has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses. Oman is a 65-year old husband, father, and wonderful grandfather to 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

Born and raised in Kabul Afghanistan, he fled the country with this wife and 3-month old baby girl at the age of 24, at the height of the Soviet/Taliban war. From climbing mountains, to swimming in ice cold rivers to avoid capture, to escaping soldiers shooting at him and his family, he made it safely to Pakistan. After residing there for a few years and garnering the strengths and funds, he made his way to France, then ultimately Germany, where his 2 other children were born. In 1997, he moved his family to California in hopes of settling down and giving his children the best possible opportunities and future.

An avid nature-seeker, he loves taking any family or friends visiting him on beautiful road trips to see what he considers the wonders of the world: San Francisco, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Monterey, Half Moon Bay, Mt. Diablo and The Redwood Trees. Since his diagnoses with Congestive Heart Failure in October 2020, this has become very challenging. He is unable to sit in the car for long drives, nor go on morning walks like he used to. He struggles with his sleep, and this has also affected his diet, and as a social butterfly who attends every event he is invited to, this has proved very difficult, as he is also unable to work and hasn’t worked as an Uber driver in over 8-9 months. Oman is fundraising for the cost of living expenses, and to help him get back on his feet once he is stable enough to be independent again post heart transplant surgery.

Oman is very thankful for the team at Stanford that he has been with for the last 2 months, and is grateful to have another opportunity in life.
