Onyx’s Journey of Courage & Hope

Onyx is a joyful, resilient 4-year-old with an infectious smile and a spirit far bigger than his years. He loves superheros, tractors, and being a big brother to Ryder. In November 2024, just after his third birthday, Onyx’s life changed forever when he was accidentally shot in the leg with a hunting rifle. The traumatic injury caused severe damage to his left thigh and femur and immediately became a fight for his life — and his leg.

Since that day, Onyx has endured 13 major surgeries, including a nerve graft, multiple bone grafts and three different plates to stabilize the bone, along with extensive hospital stays, painful procedures, and intensive rehabilitation. Through it all, he has amazed doctors, therapists, and everyone around him with his positivity and strength. Despite unimaginable challenges, Onyx remains the happiest child many have ever seen — always smiling, never using his injury as an excuse.

Due to the severity of his injury, Onyx faces long-term and ongoing medical needs that extend far beyond what insurance covers. These include specialized orthopedic care, advanced physical therapy, future reconstructive surgeries, custom braces and mobility equipment, and pain management support. The financial burden of these medically necessary treatments is significant and ongoing.

Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping cover Onyx’s uncovered medical expenses, rehabilitation therapies, and adaptive equipment — all critical to helping him regain strength, mobility, and independence. Every dollar raised helps give Onyx the best possible chance to walk, run, and play as he continues growing.
