Owen Strong

Here, at Owen Strong, we have many needs, hopes and wishes that have yet to be fulfilled. From medical supplies/treatments, to service dog training and rehab opportunities, extra help from donations enables us to move towards more “happified” life as well as an array of potential healing opportunities.

A little over three years ago, February 11, 2021, my love for the outdoors sent me on a trip to enlightenment, as well as the fifth-floor trauma unit of Omaha Nebraska’s renowned hospital, UNMC (University of Nebraska Medical Center). The Doc said I would never walk again. What started out as a normal day, an adrenaline addiction and an icy snow ramp, turned into a morphine delirium. My feet haven’t been strapped to a snowboard since.

Over the past three years, I have undergone multiple surgeries including my initial, C4/5 spinal fusion, a number of failed rehab attempts due to a rocky road of drugs and Rock ‘n’ roll followed by a grim reaping of an opioid withdrawal and a debilitating sobriety. After these many hardships, I am sitting here today (with my new puppy Althea) beneath a relentless inheritance of God’s grace.

This all said, my team (of many friends, family and others in my community) and myself are on a pursuit of possibility. We work together on brainstorming into God’s abundance of Diverse Keys and infinite variety of doors. We have so many ideas around rehabilitation and overall life restoration, but we are limited due to lack of funds, (we haven’t yet hit the lottery and my dad just bet on Dustin Johnson for the 2024 Masters)! While my ideas around this seemingly impossible feat may seem a tad bit unconventional to some, I wish for you to have trust in my awareness and trust me when I say, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!

I have chosen to partner with Help Hope Live for my fundraising because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay directly for or reimburse medical and related expenses. February 11, 2026.

Five years. That’s been a long period of time for me. My grandma sent me a devotion this morning that told me to reflect on the past week so I’m doing that. The other night I was spending out on the idea that I want to be responding to a situation that’s been holding me down, for the situation I really want to be in. It’s taken a while for me to figure out where that is. That whole while it wasn’t taking time at all. I think I learned on this day five years ago that I’ve had this knowledge ever since I felt what joy is.

Happiness is a huge time saver. When I can’t notice happiness I spend a lot of time, for whatever reason that is, Pain, discomfort, frustration at my inabilities, it all distracts and causes impatience. This would cause me to scramble for something outside of my control. That magic fix that we can’t ever find because it doesn’t live there in frustration. Sometimes this happiness is tears. Relief.
