Pamela’s story:

My name is Pamela Beck, and my journey started in December of 2006 when I fell through the the attic of my home. All because I didn’t want to wait for the landlord to come light the pilot of the furnace. I thought I could do it myself, not knowing that you have to walk on the beams, not the sheetrock. I fell through, and landed on one of the legs. My left leg and foot was beyond injured. I had 8 surgeries, and was in a boot for 13yrs. Until finally, it seemed to be alright . I was working and I was so happy. Walking my fur-baby on a beautiful Wednesday, October morning, my leg snapped. It was again the same leg. It was broken in 3 places. I had surgery again, then while recovering, I developed a bone infection that the antibiotics were not stopping from going into my bloodstream and becoming septic. My only option was to amputate my leg below the knee. I was devastated. This changed my whole life. After trying to adjust to becoming an amputee, I had to be admitted back into the hospital for fluid on my lungs and around my heart. This was in March of 2023. I was then diagnosed with ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) and was put on dialysis. 3 times a week, is not an easy road to travel. But I want to live, so I endure and breathe thru it… In January of 2025, I was admitted back into the hospital for the same thing. Fluid on my heart and lungs. An Oncologist came in the room and asked me if I was doing dialysis and I told him yes. He said he couldn’t understand why I was accumulating fluid when I do dialysis. Then he said “I’m so sorry Ms. Beck”, I found in your chart Preliminary report that you have Multiple Myeloma ( a type of Bone Marrow Cancer). All of this time I have had cancer, and did not know it. Nobody ever told me. I could have been treated in 2022 when it was diagnosed and would not have been in this position of my life being drastically altered.

I’m not accustomed to being dependent. I’m so independent and I am in need of prayers and help to get through this financial ruin that my health has lead to. I am forever thankful and I realize that I can’t change my life as it is right now. I will learn to adjust and be happy again one day. I’m including pictures of my support pup, LilGurl. She consoles me and takes all of my stress away.
