Pamela Selnes

November 1, 1997 I had a motorcycle accident that resulted in left tibia and fibula spiral fractures and a very unusual ankle fracture. Ultimately it resulted in my left below the knee amputation due to a post op MRSA bone infection on December 10, 2015.
My most disabling condition is rare and little is known about it: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME) as well as Fibromyalgia and most of the coexisting conditions of both. I also have osteoarthritis in multiple joints including my spine due to the various traumas I’ve experienced.

I’ve had medical issues my whole life. I was born with a large and painful left ankle arterio-venous malformation long before the medical community knew what it was and I was told there was nothing wrong with me. 
I’ve had multiple traumas including April 1981, I was run over by a bus while riding a bike with friends.  My head bounced off the back tire a couple times and I ended up with several scalp wounds and a concussion.  My right little and ring fingers were mangled and partially reconstructed after countless surgeries over 1 ½ years.  

In 2006 I had to leave my profession as a medical center administrator for Group Health and go on disability. I’ve never been able to return to that profession or anything similar. I have my own quilting business that I work at when my body allows.

My family and friends are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live in honor of me, Pam Selnes, to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Catastrophic Injury.
