Pat Needs Your Help

As many of you may know, Pat was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and told that her only chance at a healthy life was to have a kidney transplant. A single woman and a registered nurse for more than 30 years who has faced many challenges and obstacles in her life, Pat has always found time to assist others. She comes from a large family, and for various health reasons, none of her family members were eligible to be her living kidney donor.

Pat had her first kidney transplant in 2002. For ten years, she cared for her husband with multiple sclerosis. He passed away in 2011, and Pat learned that she needed a second kidney transplant to survive.

In 2015, she received one. Today, Pat is a single woman who, despite being unable to work, is staying as active as she can. She writes, volunteers every week, and connects with members of her community from multiple different backgrounds, cultures, and religions. She finds plenty of reasons to feel proud of what she has accomplished.

Now, she needs our help.

Pat is living exclusively off Social Security income. Now legally blind, she has no means of seeking out employment, and she has no other sources of financial support.

Fundraising is essential to her wellbeing and the health of her transplanted kidney. Just a few post-transplant costs that Pat struggles with every month are dental costs related to kidney failure, accessible transportation, medications, and insurance premiums.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Pat’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the New York Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
