My name is Patrick and I have been a Paramedic for the last 28 years.

I have been battling Pulmonary Fibrosis for the last two and a half years and then was hospitalized for Covid pneumonia last January. Covid left irreparable damage to my lungs. I was told I need a lung transplant to live any quality of life. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a lung disease that results in stiffened lungs making it hard for me to breathe. There is not cure. I am asking family and friends to join me in this fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to assist with critical expenses including lodging for possibly up to 3 months after the transplant.

I have dedicated 28 years of my life to prehospital medical care. This was my childhood dream and my pleasure as an adult. My cherished accomplishment has been as a husband of 26 years, father to three wonderful children and grandfather to three awesome grandkids. I always continue to strive to be the best at whatever I’m doing. I have worked up till the last six months. The damage to my lungs worsened and my shortness of breath increased finally andI became unable to continue working.

I have health insurance but many transplant expenses are minimally covered or not at all. My monthly cost after surgery will increase with the new anti-rejections medication I will take for the life of my new lungs.
