Peggy Jaquis

Peggy Jaquis was diagnosed with a severe case of Crohn’s disease at the young age of 22. Over the years, Peggy experienced many complications, leading to numerous struggles and surgeries. She tried everything to keep her symptoms under control, and at one point thought she was getting better. But in 2012, an aneurism was discovered behind Peggy’s eye, leading to aggressive surgery and an attempt to save her eyesight. Due to complications, Peggy received multiple blood transfusions, and she developed a condition known as fibrillary glomerulopathy, or kidney damage. Peggy soon found out that both of her kidneys were starting to shut down, and after many medications and failed attempts to save them, Peggy went into end-stage-renal disease. She has courageously undergone life-sustaining dialysis treatments ever since, but doctors have now told her that without a lifesaving kidney transplant, her time will soon run out.

Peggy’s supportive and long-time husband, Greg is committed to seeing his wife through her transplant surgery. Peggy now does home-based dialysis, and Greg even took courses to enable Peggy to undergo home dialysis. Prior to becoming ill, Peggy and Greg enjoyed traveling to see family and friends, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, since relying on dialysis and feeling ill, Peggy is unable to travel. She relies on her strong faith in prayer and God to help see her through her difficult days, and more than ever she is looking forward to resuming her once active life. The loving mother of four children, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Peggy is blessed to have a second chance at life!

Peggy is not ready to give up, but she cannot do it alone and desperately needs our help. The transplant process is very long and very expensive. Even with Medicare and supplemental insurance, Peggy will need assistance with co-pays and deductibles, travel and lodging, caregiver fees, and costly post-transplant, anti-rejection medications that she needs for the rest of her life. These out-of-pocket transplant expenses could top well over $50,000.00, and Peggy and her loving husband are on a fixed income.
