Peter is perfectly designed for this world.

This human world is not perfectly designed for Peter.

It is 2026 and there are buildings, rooms, and features in life that Peter cannot access due to design.

Accessibility is a culture to be built. Good design enables; accessibility allows us to tap into everyone’s potential. When we start thinking of accessibility as a core part of the whole system, not just an isolated part of the process, we can find all the different partners that we need in order to remove barriers. Accessibility benefits everyone.

Peter is a 7 year old boy who survived an HIE event during his birth that resulted in multiple lifelong disabilities. As Peter grows older, he is outgrowing home design features designed for able-bodied humans.

This fundraising campaign is to help fund the following upgrades:

1. Home Foundation Repair so Peter does not roll when bumped in our home. our home is sinking on one side- A solid foundation is much safer, especially when Peter’s life is on wheels. (wheeee!) Foundation repairs are extensive enough we will need to replace flooring in the house as well.

2. Roll-In Shower so Peter can safely shower with the aid of a caregiver. This will add safety and accessibility to both Peter and Caregiver.

3. Accessible bathroom features so Peter can experience the bathroom more typically. Design may include: bathroom changing table, stand alone bath tub, wheelchair accessible sink and counter, increased storage for medical supplies, etc.

4. Widen Interior Doorways to make accessing rooms easier- less bumping into doorframes.

5. Accessible Front Door so we can enter/exit the home easier. Design will also improve access for first responders during medical events. (Our current front door opening is only 30 inches wide, which is narrower than standard.)

6. SureHands Ceiling Lift will aid with safe transfer of Peter from bed into bathtub, changing table, wheelchair, etc.

7. Improvements to Medication Station and Respiratory Station to increase accessibility of medications and equipment, better design to improve sanitation/cleanliness of home medical stations.

8. Storage Storage Storage for therapy equipment, medical equipment, medical supplies, wheelchairs, etc. As Peter grows, everything seems to get larger.

Any overage or leftover funds from this campaign will go towards an accessible van and/or other costs related to disability…

Help Hope Live verifies our medical diagnosis and requires all funds raised to be used specifically for life enhancements, therapies, equipment, and other special costs/projects that accrue due to disability. Medical provider confirmation is needed for all spending from this platform- Our goals must be verified as beneficial to Peter due to disability by his medical team before funds can be dispersed. If we exceed our goals in this campaign, additional funds will be used for additional medical expenses, equipment, etc. There always seems to be something and more to do.
