Family and friends of Rachael Connolly, I’m reaching out for assistance on raising funds for a Heart Transplant & Recovery. I currently have Heart Failure due to a diagnosis of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy that was discovered 12 years ago at the ripe age of 17 years old. I have been battling this disease for over a decade, and with numerous trials of past surgeries, medication regimens, and pure determination to “overcome this disease”, I have finally decided it’s my time to enter the world of Heart Transplant. It’s been a word and course of action my doctors have been discussing for the last 4 years. Due to my 2 latest hospitalizations in the fall & winter of 2024, my team and I have decided I should be on the “list”.

This Heart Transplant will be the second open heart surgery I will have to recover from, I had a septal myectomy in 2017. I do know what the road recovery will sort of look like, but I’m reaching out for assistance because financially HCM has taken everything from me due to constant medical maintenance of the disease. Transplant is a whole other ball game when it comes to recovery, and life style changes. I’ve been combating these medical issues with a very small support group, so this is taking A LOT for me to reach out for help. I plan on starting my Fundraising Goal with a lowish amount, due to the high cost of living EVERYONE is experiencing, as you might not know, transplant surgeries are EXPENSIVE, but ultimately I’m looking to improve the quality of life, I so deserve. <3 Here’s to finding the PERFECT match & living Happily Ever After!! 🙂
