Family and Friends of Ralph “Chuck” Campbell are raising funds through Help Hope Live to help pay for medical bills associated with his new gift of life from a recent liver transplant.

Chuck found out about his liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) over 20 years ago. This was around the same time he found out about a hereditary blood disorder he also was diagnosed with called Hemolytic anemia. Over the last few years he was progressing with both diseases where he had to be hospitalized several times because of both issues. The doctors said Chuck was at end stage Liver Cirrhosis and his team of doctors at Vanderbilt University decided in late December, 2023 it was time for him to be placed on the liver transplant list. They were very excited to be finally on the list, but nervous at the same time. The one thing that they did know was that God was in control and everything would be in his timing. And in speaking of God’s timing, even though Chuck qualified to be on the transplant list in December 2023, the official letter did not come until February 19th, the actual same day they got the call that there was a liver available. They wanted to share this with others that are on the list to give hope and be ready, there were many stories where the wait for an organ was not as long as they were told!

They are so grateful for this new gift of life and hope for Chuck and God’s hand that he had in this whole transplant, surgery and recovery! The first 3 months are the most critical and so far Chuck has been recovering well the first month, which comes with a lot of adjustment with meds and hospital visits. As most of you know, organ transplants are life saving, but expensive, and we are so thankful that Vanderbilt gives the referral of Help Hope Live who can help us raise funds for the related costs of a transplant. Many recipients have insurance, but there are unexpected transplant related out of pocket expenses such as travel costs, extra medical services, some uncovered medicines, loss of wages along with insurance co-pays and deductibles.

They say if you know Chuck at all, you know he is a good, kind, and honest man of God. He loves his family and wants to be able support his family and enjoy what remains of his life, which he feels he has a lot left to enjoy with them.

Chuck is also known for having a reputation of superior customer service as an event manager with the Music City Center in Nashville and is looking forward to continuing to be a positive asset in the Nashville community for many more years to come.

His wife, Jackie of 25 years, and their son Grant are excited to see him get back to good health and live life longer to the fullest again!
