Dear friends, family, and compassionate hearts,

I am writing to you today with a plea that comes straight from the depths of my heart. My name is Randy Mesina. I’m 62 years old, and I am facing a formidable battle against a relentless lung disease.

I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema 4 years ago. After being placed on oxygen I was forced to leave my job as a tradesman and go on disability. Life since hasn’t been easy, I was referred to UPMC for transplant and have gone through testing to make sure I was a good candidate for a lung transplant.

We take for granted the gift of oxygen until each breath becomes a precious commodity, and the hope for a brighter tomorrow rest on the possibility of a life-saving lung transplant.

As you can imagine, the road ahead is challenging, both physically and emotionally. What adds to the weight of this struggle is the overwhelming financial burden associated with the transplant process – from the procedure itself to post-transplant care and ongoing medical expenses.

This is where I humbly turn to you, seeking your support in this critical time of need.

I understand that we all have our challenges, and the world is filled with its own set of struggles. Yet, it is the strength of our community and the compassion within each of you that can make a difference.
