Help Me Raise Funds to Be a Healthy and Active Member of My Community Again

Hello Dear Friends and Family,

I want to thank you for taking the time to read this message. I humbly say that for several months now, I’ve agonized about sharing it, because, at my core, I’ve not felt like myself. I’m asking for your support in helping me get back to the independent woman I used to be, so that I can contribute more substantially to our community in return.

Though I choose not to make them the primary focus of my life, I’m currently managing an ever-growing list of chronic health conditions. If we know each other personally, most of you are aware that I’m a wheelchair-user due to spastic diplegia Cerebral Palsy (CP) from birth. Generally, it’s not considered to be a progressive condition in itself, but now that I’m in my 40’s, I’ve developed several secondary conditions, including recurrent kidney stones, spinal degeneration, asthma, migraine headaches, digestive issues, and overall pain and fatigue.

Although I won’t be able to eliminate these conditions, the good news is that i can greatly improve my health and well-being by making some changes to my lifestyle. However, I’m reaching out with this message because I’m in need of some additional resources in order to make these necessary changes.

For most of my life, I’ve been able to get in and out of my wheelchair on my own to get where I need to go, whether that be to another room of my home, or into the front seat of a car. As my body has changed over time, it’s become increasingly isolating to ask for help from others for things I used to be able to do for myself. However, I’m forever grateful to anyone who’s willing to lend their hand and their time, because I know it’s not easy to give.

My first priority is to conserve more of my energy, so that I can use it for the things that I value, such as serving the clients I work with as Social Worker and Health and Wellness Coach. To that end, it’s no longer possible for me to transfer from my wheelchair to a car seat on a regular basis. As a temporary solution, I have access to a heavily used van with a lift, but it will need to be replaced with a new van as soon as possible, as it won’t last much longer. It’s important to me that whether it be through my employment, volunteering or chance encounters, I pay forward the needs and desires that people before have filled for me.

Should there be any funds left after I’ve obtained a van, they will be used for other services and equipment that will allow me to maintain and/or improve my health and independent mobility.

I have chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you for your support!
