Rebecca Krouch

At 58-years-old, Rebecca L. Krouch is a young woman with an infectious laugh and a love of life who has been a resident of the Las Vegas area for more than 30 years. In the early 80’s, she was diagnosed with potential serious liver problems, yet was able to work 26 of the last 30 years in the gaming industry, primarily as a Blackjack Dealer. In 2007, her health became compromised due to the liver disease and she was forced to quit working! Rebecca now has end-stage liver disease with cancer and was informed that her only chance for survival was a liver transplant.

Rebecca was evaluated and found to be a good candidate for transplant. While she was recently placed on the active transplant waiting list at the University Medical Center/University of Arizona, she must immediately start targeted chemotherapy as the cancer is rapidly growing. The chemo will hopefully buy her a little more time as she waits for the transplant.

Funding a life-saving transplant and after care is a monumental task for most anyone. Even with insurance, Rebecca will have many uninsured, transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from the transplant center and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Rebecca’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
