Hello! My name is Stormy Brown, my mothers name is Rebecca McKinley, she actually has an Astrocytoma grade 2 malignant tumor, but the rare thing about her condition is hers is actually not located in the brain, it’s located in her lower, spinal cord wrapped around all of her nerves in her spine. When she was younger she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and when she was 32 they located the tumor on her spine. She underwent spinal surgery to figure out if it was cancerous, and indeed it is.
In 2015 at the age of 42 she underwent radiation to shrink the tumor as it started growing, for 6 weeks every day my mother went in for radiation. And that is only a portion of what she has gone through. My mom is a well devoted, working full-time woman, She actually took me in when I was four days old when I was left on her doorstep by my biological mother.
Her only way of transportation recently blew a head gasket (along with a lot of other issues with her van excluding that) and since she works full-time to try to make a living that is now jeopardizing her livelihood. A new vehicle that is handicap accessible runs between 40,000 and $80,000, which is something my mother will be unable to afford due to piling medical debt from her condition, And only making $15 an hour being a store associate at Walmart. We would love for some help within our community to help my mother out to be able to be as independent as possible having a vehicle she can drive, a new wheelchair ( co-pay of 8,000) and over 5,000$ in medical debt currently that is always going up due to physical therapy and ongoing doctor visits to keep up on her tumor and other medical issues. Any amount helps to get some of the burden off my moms back, even if it’s 1$ it’s 1$ less she has to worry about.
