Help Richard Breathe a Better Life and Future

Family and friends, we are reaching out to ask for your help in raising funds through the nonprofit Help Hope Live to support uninsured medical expenses for Richard Heagle’s lung transplantation.

Richard is a 59-year-old father of five, grandfather of 12, and great-grandfather of three. In May 2022, he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, and doctors have now determined that a double lung transplant is critical to his survival. The journey to a transplant will be long and challenging. Even with insurance covering a portion of the transplant costs, Richard will face significant out-of-pocket expenses, including medication co-pays, deductibles, and temporary relocation costs while he is required to stay near the transplant center during recovery.

Richard is a retired and disabled printing press operator and mechanical engineer. He enjoys playing online strategy games, camping with family and friends, range shooting, playing pool, and traveling. He is shy around new people but is known for being cheerful, caring, and loving, always ready to help those around him. Richard cherishes watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and shares a special bond with his 13-year-old daughter, who dreams of becoming a famous pianist and artist.

Due to his diagnosis, Richard struggles with daily tasks such as housework and yard work and is sensitive to strong smells. He experiences severe breathlessness from simple activities like walking, talking, or light exercise and is reliant on an oxygen tank to leave the house. He deeply misses spending time with his family and enjoying the activities he once loved.

A successful transplant would give Richard the chance to enjoy life again, making memories with his family and watching his loved ones grow and thrive.
