Richard Lewis

Rich Lewis is a 46-year-old man who has been suffering from Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis for almost 20 years. MS is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the nervous system and often leads to paralysis and loss of vision. Unfortunately for Rich, the disease is progressing and he is having a difficult time. Rich has been researching treatments for MS, and that’s where he has learned of a promising stem cell therapy transplant. Rich feels that this treatment is his best hope for a return to good health, but unfortunately, it is very expensive as his health insurance does not cover the cost of treatment or related expenses.

Rich grew up in Newaygo County and graduated from White Cloud High School. Immediately afterward he joined the Navy and spent 6 years as a Data Systems Technician and saw the world. He was transplanted to Charleston, SC by the Navy, and found his wife Melissa down there. Shortly after marrying, the two moved north back to Rich’s home state of Michigan. Unfortunately, it was not long after that that his first symptoms appeared. He has been on a slow decline ever since. Rich is active in his local American Legion and he goes to Victory Fellowship Church in Newaygo.

To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Rich’s honor has been established with Help HOpe Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years.
