Rickey Turner

Rick is 66 years old. He was diagnosed over 5 years ago with end stage renal failure. He began having dialysis 3 times a week immediately. He has been doing well by eating the right foods, taking his meds and faithfully attending his 4 hour dialysis sessions . He was approved to be on the list for a kidney transplant and has been waiting over 5 years as he is O negative blood type.

Rick loves to read and look at videos on his phone and go on walks. He is a very quiet person who keeps to himself most of the time. When he decides to be social he is so interesting. He is like an encyclopedia.

He is so easy to please. He never complains and keeps a very positive attitude. I think he is amazingly brave. Rick’s humble, pure spirit is what really attracted him to me. He is the light of my life.

Rick’s biggest struggle has been to limit his liquid intake. He sleeps a lot as well.

We are fundraising to help with medical expenses and medical bills and unexpected expenses that we just can’t cover fully with insurance, resulting in tremendous debt. We are both disabled so we don’t have a lot of income. Rick works about 22 hours a week but that doesn’t bring in a lot. He, however can’t handle more than that.. We hope that a transplant will extend his life and stop the need for dialysis so he can live a full life.

We chose to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
