Ricky Lloyd

Ricky is a 68 year old husband, father and grandfather. In 2001 Ricky was diagnosed with kidney disease. Following that diagnosis in January of 2003 Ricky underwent a quadruple heart bypass. He recovered and was on the mend leading an active and healthy life for nearly 2 decades. January 2023 Ricky’s kidney disease advanced and he started requiring Dialysis 3 days a week. Ricky’s health declined and his activity level weakened. All hope is not lost. Ricky has the opportunity to be matched for a double transplant giving him a heart and a kidney at the same time!

As a faith filled man, Ricky loves to bless others. Growing up in a family that had little he has never failed to give what even he did not have. His biggest love is to cook and provide food for others. Before his health declined Ricky was always at the grill or in the pantry. Packing food boxes for those in need or preparing a meal for a family that wouldn’t expect it. Through his kindness and outgoing persona he never meets a stranger. With a smile on their faces his granddaughters have been known to say, “PaPa knows everybody!”.

Ricky has been married to the love of his life for 46 years and together they have raised two boys into successful men. Ricky’s pride and joy are his sons and his 4 grandchildren. He was an active part in all of their lives prior to his decline. Dialysis requires him to be close to a clinic every other day. The effect it has taken on his heart has made him weak. He is now bound to home and wheelchair/walker.

Ricky’s family is raising money to cover the costs associated with his kidney/heart double transplant. This particular double transplant takes place in Oklahoma City, 3 hours from their home. Due to the complex nature of the double transplant Ricky and his wife Janice will need to stay in the OKC area for a minimum of 2 months post op. This is to ensure Ricky gets the best and immediate medical care needed for him to fully heal. This expense, along with a percentage of the transplant that is not covered by insurance creates an amount that we are asking for the generosity of others to help with.

Ricky and his family are looking forward to having his life back. They are hopeful that this will give them more time for him to be a part if their lives. Making more memories like… being present for his granddaughters weddings, grandsons graduations, enjoying football games with his sons, taking his wife on dates, being able to attend church and to be able to bless others again thru food.
