Family and friends of Robert Gillespie are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Heart Transplant. Robert has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.Robert is currently on the Heart Transplant List at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington.While he does have insurance, the costs for a procedure like his are typically over a million dollars, which insurance helps with. But there are many other costs that won’t be covered.He will need to live in Spokane area, within 150 miles for at least 2 months after receiving his heart transplant. His wife Sheena will be his caretaker and will be unable to work during this time, resulting in lost wages.After transplant, he will be required to live in a private living space with at least a private kitchenette to prepare his own food. This is due to his increased risk to bacterial infections. The cost of living in this area is about $3000 a month. He will still have his mortgage and regular bills at home to cover.Additionally, afterwards, he will require regular trips to the hospital for life as he will always need antirejection medications and check ups.These funds may only be used for medical treatments and treatment related costs such as lodging, travel, food, medications, appointments and more.Any help is greatly appreciated as we understand that everyone has challenges that you are dealing with.
