Dear Friends and Family,

I am a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and I am in need of a kidney transplant.

Transplantation is life-saving but very expensive. Even with insurance, I will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation housing and the costly immunosuppressant medications that I will need to take for the rest of my life. This presents as financial challenge to me and my family and my transplant team has recommended that we begin a fundraising campaign.

I am in the process of transplant evaluation and review at Halifax Health, and have been informed that I will not be placed on the active transplant list until I initially raise $1882. This figure does not include the costs for my first year medications which are estimated to be about $6000 a year (and for which I will have to do additional fundraising) .

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
