Ron Norvell

Ron was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called Complement 3 Glomerulopathy, or C3G for short, in October of 2022. We always knew that he was 1 in 1million, and now we have the proof! We found out that he was in stage 5 kidney failure after a week stay in the hospital in September of 2022. In October, they did a biopsy on his kidney and discovered his disease. While trying to give his kidneys a jump start, he was put on some high doses of meds. He was rushed to the hospital in November because the meds had caused severe bleeding ulcers. After 2 weeks in the hospital we are still praising Jesus that Ron survived! They placed a permacath dialysis port in his shoulder and he started on dialysis while he was in the hospital. Two days after Christmas of 2022, he went in for his permanent dialysis port, called a fistula. It makes his arm buzz, and we refer to it as his party trick!

Ron loves all things Star Wars, music, and concert related. He loves spending time with his family, going to church, watching movies, going swimming, and watching his daughter play soccer. His favorite thing to do with his friends is hang out on the porch by the fire pit.

This has completely changed our lives. Due to his rare disease, it has also caused him macular degeneration. Ron gets up on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays at 4:15a.m. to go to dialysis. If you know anyone who’s ever been on the kidney disease diet…..it’s no fun! He’s restricted on fluids also, so this makes his work with outdoor concert productions tricky in the hotter months. We cannot wait for him to get a transplant so that he can get back to enjoying all that life has to offer.

Even with insurance, Ron will have a lifetime of expenses related to his transplant. We are fundraising to help with out-of-pocket costs that insurance does not cover.
