Rosetta (Posey) McNeal is a 69-year-old woman who is very ill. After three years of suffering with Bird Fanciers Disease, a double lung transplant is her only hope for survival. Posey is the kindest person you’d ever hope to meet, and even devoted a life-time to caring for others as an LPN. This time she needs our help! The cost of a lung transplant is overwhelming and she cannot meet this challenge alone.

Posey grew up in Mount Oliver, PA and graduated from St. Joseph School. Following her grandmother’s stroke, Posey bathed, fed, dressed and prepared meals daily for her grandmother. After six years of caring for her grandmother, Posey went to work at G.C. Murphy’s company and attended school to become a nurse. She met her husband of 40 years at G.C. Murphy co and had two boys. Her husband died in 2006 from lung cancer. Posey bought her first bird (an amazon gray) for her mom who she cared for in her own home after her mom had a stroke. After her mom passed, Posey kept and cared for the bird daily, changing its cage twice a day. Posey did not know that the bird (Murphy), she loved so much was causing scar tissue to build in her lungs. Posey became increasingly short of breath, and now is unable to work and requires oxygen around the clock.

After a lung transplant, Posey looks forward to returning to work to continue caring for others. For now, all she wants is to be able to walk from one room to the next without gasping for air. Together, Posey, her sons Michael and Mark, and granddaughter Courtney, are committed to seeing her through this transplant.

Transplants are financially draining. Even with insurance Posey is facing very high expenses including post-transplant medications up to $1200 a month, co-pays, lab fees and more. She cannot do this without your help.
