Sandy Needs Our Help!

Our friend Sandy received the devastating diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis Lung Disease around a year ago today. This is a progressive condition which causes scarring and extensive damage to both lungs. There is no cure for this disease, a lung transplant is her only hope for survival.

Sandy is a loving mother to her 16-year-old son Zachary. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed going to Zach’s basketball games, gathering with friends, cooking, yoga, and is also a talented artist. She has been a licensed esthetician for over 17 years and has loved taking care of all of her loyal clients. Sadly, this health crisis has left her unable to continue her employment and now struggles not only with daily tasks but with the financial stability for herself and her son. Sandy has a limited family support system which is why we are reaching out to all of you for any help that you can provide. It is only through the kindness and generosity of people like you that will give hope to Sandy’s future with her son and loving friends.

Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. After the transplant, Sandy will need professional care around the clock care for a minimum of 10-12 weeks. She is currently on Medicaid which does not cover this extremely costly, but critical piece of her recovery. She will also need to continue medications and therapies after the surgery for the rest of her life that are also not covered under Medicaid.

To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Sandy’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the North-Central Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
