Sara Larsen

Hello!
I’m Sara Larsen. Some of you may know that I have been living with a lung disease called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) for about six years now. The doctors don’t know what caused it. Over the years, I have maxed out on all medications to help keep me stable. This past year, I’ve been in and out of the hospital as I started getting worse. Then in October, I went into heart failure and was hospitalized at UC Davis for a month, then transferred to Stanford Hospital and listed for a heart and double lung transplant. As you can imagine, this journey has been difficult for the whole family including my twin boys.

On January 30th, Stanford found a match for me, and I had the transplant surgery! I am now just beginning to recover and am told that there will be many expenses associated with my recovery, including housing near the hospital for several months, transportation, and additional medical expenses. The social worker at the hospital strongly suggested that I ask for your support as the future is very hopeful, but also a long road for recovery.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant medical and related expenses only.
