In July of 2002 I fell ill from a strep throat infection that became septic. Even though I was able to overcome this infection, it did take a toll on certain parts of my body, including my kidneys.

For eight years I followed a strict diet, did not drink alcohol and was very cautious about the types of medications I took in order to preserve what kidney function I had remaining. Despite taking all of these precautions, I went into total renal failure in February of 2010. Since then, I have been having dialysis treatments three times a week. These treatments serve as replacements for my kidneys to clean my blood and keep me alive. Finally, after years of waiting, I have now been placed on the kidney transplant list by the Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas. When I receive a match from a donor, I will then be able to have my transplant. Once I have the surgery, I will then have to remain in the hospital for at least one full week, but even upon my discharge from the hospital, I will have to remain in Dallas for eight more weeks as the doctors will have to be in close contact with me to make sure my body is recovering well.

My insurance covers most of my medical needs but I will need to stay in Dallas for up to two months after surgery. These cost and the cost of some of my medications, travel and co-pays and more are not covered and I am asking you to Please consider making a donation to Help Hope Live that will go towards my campaign.
