Scott needs a new kidney and pancreas

Scott Phillips (51) is a loving husband and father of six. Scott was diagnosed with type 1 insulin dependent diabetes at the age of 12. After nearly 40 years as a diabetic the disease has taken its toll. Scott is currently in stage 5 kidney failure and his doctor hopes Scott will receive the transplant before the need for dialysis. Scott is on the waiting list for a kidney pancreas transplant which not only will give him a new kidney, but he will no longer be a diabetic!

Scott grew up in Geneva, IL, and graduated from Geneva Community H.S. He attended Colorado Mountain College and received an A.A.S. degree in photography. Scott has been active in ministry and mission work since his graduation, traveling around the world to help and support others. Scott and Patti married in 1992 and have six children including three siblings who were adopted from India in 2006. Scott is excited for this transplant so he can watch his already large family grow and change through marriage and grandchildren.

After many years of helping others, Scott is now the one who needs our help. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and relocation for two months at the time of transplant. In addition, Scott will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications and will have to travel back to Phoenix for follow-up appointments. This is where your help is needed.

To help with the financial burden of Scott’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years.
