Scott Linscott

Family and friends of Scott Linscott are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Scott chose to fundraise with Help Hope Live (formerly HelpHOPELive – The Leader in Fundraising Assistance and Support for Transplant and Catastrophic Injury) in part because Help Hope Live provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. Dear Friends of Scott Linscott Some of you may know Scott from his years as the Founder and Director of Teens Alive or some of you may know him as the Youth Pastor of your Church during at some point since 1985 or maybe some of you know him as the Blog writer of “Drinking from the Same Dipper” (www.scottlinscott.com). Others may know him as Donald Linscott, III, friend and the funniest guy you want to sit next to at a Portland Seadogs baseball game. He is an amazing husband, father, friend and brother. He married his college sweetheart, Robin in 1984 and they have raised three awesome kids – Josh, Shara and Jake.

In May 2011, while vacationing in Florida with his wife, Scott was diagnosed with “end stage liver failure” due to Non-Alcohol Cirrhosis of the Liver (NASH). The shock and seriousness of Scott’s medical condition sent everyone who knows him into a shock and awe prayer vigil.

Scott has been in and out of the hospital approximately every 15 days since May with numerous failed treatments. Scott’s only chance for survival and a cure, is a liver transplant. GREAT NEWS! On May 7, 2012, Scott’s son Josh gave him half of his liver to save his life. Today, both are doing very well. Josh is a Urologist and Scott is a photographer (www.MaineProPhoto.com) and the pastor of a small, family church in Maine. Their incredible story was featured at a music festival for 12,000 people in a professionally produced 2 minute video promoting organ donation. (See it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARSvSV4cuXc ) Funds raised through HelpHopeLive.org have been a tremendous help to the Linscott family as transportation, lodging, co-pays and uncovered procedures have already totaled several thousand dollars. Though the transplant was successful and things are going very well, they still will need help from time to time with high co-pays and continuing challenges. They are so thankful for all who have helped to this point. The Lord has provided for them every step of the way. Thank you for being part of their team.

Scott has been a minister in Maine since 1985. He recently left his position as Youth Pastor to begin church planting and had only recently launched the “Axis Church” hoping to make faith understandable and relevant to so many who find “church” unappealing. Now, he faces the biggest challenge of his life with the massive unanticipated medical costs on top of fighting his disease. This is a challenge he and Robin cannot meet alone. (8/8/12 They plan to resume home group meeting in October.) They need your help! Not only are the costs of the transplant in excess of $300,000.00, but many of the expenses will not be covered by insurance. As friends, family and Internet acquaintances of the Linscott family, we can offer our help and prayers during this time. We can also help financially. A fundraising campaign in Scott’s honor has been established through Help Hope Live for his uninsured medical expenses. Help Hope Live is a nonprofit organization that has provided direct assistance to the transplant community for nearly 30 years.
