Scott Bieber

Family and friends of Scott Bieber are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Scott is a 1982 MAHS graduate, with long and strong family ties in the area. Until progressive lung disease, caused by rheumatoid arthritis, debilitated his activity level, he worked in construction and enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman. His wife of 20 years, Julie, and their 2 teenage children have been Scott’s rock. While caring for and supporting Scott’s needs at home, Julie has juggled her job and graduate school work, and both of their children have maintained honor roll status, active participation in sports and scout activities, and after-school jobs, all while their oldest prepares for college in the fall!

Despite his excellent care at home, a decline in Scott’s condition necessitated his transport to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Although the long distance from home, work, and school was difficult, Scott’s family was comforted to know that he was in the best possible place for continued medical care while he awaited the gift of life.

On May 16, 2017, Scott received his lung transplant and is improving daily! Thanks to the incredible surgeons, Scott is on his way back to health, but he needs our help as his medical bills are mounting. In addition to transplant-related medical bills, after discharge, Scott will be required to live near the hospital for 3 months while he recuperates and restores.

To help with the financial burden of uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in honor of Scott Bieber with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to help patients and families in need for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law and held by Help Hope Live in the Mid-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund in honor of Scott Bieber.
