Seth Kurpiel

My brother, Seth Kurpiel, a married 45-year-old father of two young boys, suffered a catastrophic cervical spinal cord injury on April 6, 2025. The neck injury resulted in his inability to move his arms and legs, and initially, he could not feel anything from the neck down. Seth’s family and friends are raising money to help offset the substantial medical expenses that insurance does not cover.  We are grateful to have the help of the well-respected 501c3 non-profit, Help Hope Live, which specializes in fundraising for uninsured medical expenses. On April 6th, 2025, my brother, Seth, suffered a devastating cervical spinal cord injury in a terrible accident while playing with his son on a local playground. This catastrophic neck injury resulted in his inability to move or feel anything from the neck down. Seth receives constant smiles and strength from his wife, Morgan, a nurse at Memorial Sloane Kettering and his two sons, ages 12 and 15. 

Since his injury, Seth has said multiple times, “I am the luckiest guy in the world,” referring to the support from his community, friends, family and medical team. Seth made strides in the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit and as of April 24th, he was transferred to a model spinal inpatient rehabilitation center. Seth is working tirelessly with his therapists to recover neurological function and will learn how to navigate life without the use of his arms and legs. Seth’s determination is a source of inspiration as he faces this unimaginable challenge.

Seth and his family will need to pay substantial out-of-pocket costs for home and vehicle modifications needed to support a new reality. Please consider a tax-deductible donation that will go directly to fund Seth’s medical expenses that insurance does not cover.
