ShelbyLynn Pursley

ShelbyLynn became a T-6 paraplegic on December 31, 2022 from a condition known as Transverse Myelitis. She was in the hospital for over a month trying to get a correct and appropriate diagnosis. Once she finally did and was able to leave the hospital, one of the first things ShelbyLynn wanted to was go swimming again. Her whole life, ShelbyLynn has been drawn to water. When she first got in the pool again on April 29th, 2022, she fell in love with swimming just as she had when she was a kid. On her first swim in the pool, she swam a 100 meter swim in just over two minutes. It was then that ShelbyLynn realized how close she already was to swimming at a Paralympic emerging standard time, and her new dream was born. In the last year, ShelbyLynn has continued to swim and also fallen in love with rock climbing. Her goal is to swim and climb in the 2028 Paralympics, however, she has encountered a road block. Due to not having a vehicle, ShelbyLynn isn’t able to attend trainings in the way she needs to. She is raising money to hopefully get an adapted wheelchair vehicle so that she can attend regular trainings and go to work. She is needing a vehicle with hand controls and space for her wheelchair.
