Family and friends of Shirley Neiger are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Our mother, Shirley needs your assistance.

Shirley’s battle with the loss of her kidney function has come to a critical point. Our mother and wife to our dad, Dennis, is now in kidney failure and needs dialysis three times a week to survive. Because dialysis is only a temporary solution, she needs a kidney transplant.

We’re asking family and friends to join us in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help with critical expenses Shirley will face immediately after surgery, including the cost of lodging for her and her husband, Dennis, near the transplant center where she is required to stay for a minimum of 30 days following her discharge.

Shirley has always lived a positive and productive life despite her health challenges. She has never let health challenges get in the way of her becoming a beautician and a mother to three grown children. Shirley’s positive attitude and lifestyle helped her for a long time, but now Shirley’s kidneys have shut down due to diabetes and a heart attack which required emergency intervention and ultimately led to complete kidney failure.

While Shirley has health insurance, many transplant expenses are surprisingly not covered such as the monthly anti-rejection medication she needs to take for the life of her new kidney. Shirley has been told to anticipate upwards of $5,000 per month just for medications alone.
