Help Sonia receive her gift of life!

Sonia is a single mother who was diagnosed with Lupus in 1992. In 1995, the disease began to affect her kidneys and her kidney steadily began to decline. In 2004, as a result of her illness, Sonia was placed on dialysis, which takes place three times a week for three hours. Her doctors have told her that her only real chance at a healthy life is to have a kidney transplant.

Through all of her struggles, Sonia’s determination and fight for her life remain very strong. She’s not only fighting for herself she is also fighting to be there for her son James – and he wants her to be healthy and a loving presence in his life for a long time.

Currently, Sonia is on the transplant list at Life link Medical Center. Transplants are lifesaving but extremely expensive. Even with insurance, Sonia will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life. This is a financial challenge that Sonia cannot meet alone.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Sonia’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years.
