Sophia McConkey

Sophia McConkey is an AMAZING five year old girl with an extremely rare genetic disorder called “TBCK”. There are only about 100 diagnosed cases in the world, and that number is continuing to grow. All donations will go toward the purchase of a medically equipped van.

To meet Sophia is to fall in love with her! Sophia and her family are in need of a medically adapted van to be able to get her to her many Dr. appointments. Up until recently she was able to be transported in the family car, although it was a major ordeal to get her and all of her equipment into the car, so she could be safely transported. Due to “TBCK” she has no muscle tone, she cannot talk, walk or move on her own. Each year she is getting taller and heavier to the point, we are not feeling safe transporting her in a regular car. The only places she ever gets to go is to necessary appointments and that also includes a nurse and at least one family member to make this happen.
Although Sophia cannot talk, she communicates with us with her eyes and eyebrows. Raising her eyebrow is her “yes” and a “no” is no response or occasionally “uh uh”. If you would like to learn more about Sophia she also has a Facebook page.
