Stevie Moore

Does anybody recognize either of the individuals pictured on the left? If you know them, you got to love them! It’s none other than Stevie Moore and Pat Johnson-Moore!

The two graduated from high school together in the early 80’s and began their journeys to adulthood in different states, with separate career paths and life goals. They reconnected 40 years later after Stevie stumbled across one of Pat’s Facebook posts. Never a shy man, Stevie pursued the prize. After a whirlwind 11 weeks of dating, they were smitten with each other. On a quiet Friday afternoon in a small courtroom in Texas, they wed after tracking down a judge to perform the nuptials in February 2017. He later relocated to South Florida to join his bride.

Everybody has a story. Life happens! Stevie developed a dry, hacking cough that attacked his body in October 2021. A few months later (January 2022), chest pain integrated with the persistent, nagging cough that lingered. He eventually was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

Pulmonary fibrosis is an awful disease that affects the lungs and threatens to rob the body of the very substance we need to survive— oxygen! This once vibrant man who loves God, singing & dancing, a real sports fanatic & avid golfer is no longer able to enjoy these activities. Stevie’s condition has rapidly deteriorated over the last 2-3 months. This past year has entailed frequent trips to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida with the number of days ranging from 3-15. If you know anything about the Mayo Clinic, you know they thoroughly check everything from A to Z. They have determined that Stevie’s existence is dependent on a double lung transplant ASAP. To date, out of pocket expenditures that include food, transportation, uncovered medical expenses and housing have soared and the fees associated with a transplant are astronomical.
