Help Hope Live for Susan Cameron

Hi my name is Susan. I want to share a little bit of my life with you.

I am 66. I have an autoimmune disease and it has showed up in my liver. For years and even decades without knowing why I always felt the way I did. In 2016 I landed in the hospital after vomiting a lot of blood. When I got there by ambulance I must have been in and out of consciousness because I only vaguely remember getting there and being in a room. I do not recall them taking me to have a procedure done. I just know that when I woke up, the doctor said you know you have cirrhosis of the liver right? I looked at him and said not that I knew of. The letter is such anI do not recall them taking me to have a procedure done. I just know that when I woke up, the doctor said you know you have cirrhosis of the liver right? I looked at him and said not that I knew of. The liver is such an important part of the body, my spleen had doubled in size, and the bleeding that I coughed up was another disease secondary to the liver which was called esophageal varises. I took care of myself very well for all these years. I thought I was doing good with my disease and stuff until last year. I was on a trip to Oklahoma and I suffered from encephalopathy which is a toxin in my body so serious it came put you in a coma and you won’t live through it. I am blessed and I live through. I was unconscious for at least 16 hours before the paramedics came. I was in a motel room unconscious there I was in the hospital for a week. I came back to Colorado and saw a liver doctor. Who does Transplant I didn’t know the severity of my health. She asked me what do you plan on doing with your life? Did you just want to curl up and wait or did you want to live a full an amazing life? My answer was absolutely I have so much more dash left in my life. I wanna live a lot longer. And the doctor looked at me and said then you need a Transplant so the journey has begun. It’s been hard to work I had plans to work hard, but my head says I can but my body says you can’t so I haven’t been able to save money like I wanted to. I’m looking at recovery for at least six months where I can finally work again. That leaves me not being able to pay my whole rent or my utilities. I am single I’m not married. I have four kids they have kids. I don’t expect them to be able to support me in those day and age. So I’m reaching out to the community reaching out to churches reaching out to my friends and my coworkers. Please help me if you can only give five dollars. That’s fine. Every little penny is big. Thank you so much for listening to my story and I will update you as much as I can. Thank you!!

Family and friends of Susan Cameron are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Susan has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
