Susan Needs a Liver Transplant!

Our Mother, Susan Hill is in desperate need of a lifesaving liver transplant. Susan was diagnosed with a disorder of her liver known as primary biliary cholangitis; a chronic autoimmune and genetic liver condition that often leads to end-stage liver disease. Susan’s health has deteriorated over the past few years, and she is now in need of a new liver. A liver transplant is her only hope for survival and Susan needs your help.

After extensive medical testing, Susan is actively listed for transplant surgery at Indiana University Medical Center. While she waits for the telephone call that will save her life, Susan’s out-of-pocket medical expenses are quickly adding up. After her transplant, Susan is required to temporary relocate closer to the hospital. Living near Indiana University Medical Center for four weeks will cost upwards of $3000. Expenses such as co-pays and deductibles, medical bills, meals fees and a full-time companion and caregiver will quickly add up. While out of work, her living expenses are mounting and the out-of-pocket portion of her transplant surgery is more than Susan can handle alone. Follow-up appointments, transportation fees, and costly post-transplant anti-rejection medications are needed for the rest of Susan’s life.

Susan is a loving and caring person and the proud mother of one daughter and three sons, who are committed to seeing her through her transplant. She has five adorable grandsons who she loves spending time with. She worked hard for many years supporting her family as a single parent, and took on many jobs as a beautician, real estate salesperson, nursing assistant, security guard, and even in a chiropractor’s office for several years. Susan loves to garden and is a longstanding member of the First General Baptist Church and has lead the bible study group Circle of Faith for many years. With a large network of loyal and devoted friends, Susan is hoping to raise enough money to help with her transplant expenses. She even volunteered for many years as a gardener and has spent time working at her local senior center “talking with the ladies” and getting to know each and every resident.
