Help get my mom back on track!

My mother, Tammy Zolnier, is 72-years-old and is living in Masury, Ohio. She lived an active life, working mainly as a seamstress, until medication damaged her kidneys. She had her first kidney transplant in 2018. Since then, the function of her donated kidney has almost completely stopped. She has been trying to manage her health with medications and diet changes but had to start full dialysis in the fall of 2023. I am fully approved to donate my kidney to her, and we now have all the necessary caretakers committed for after the transplant. However, we still need to raise funds for medical expenses that will come with the procedure.

My mom loves to guide children through art and craft projects. She enjoys visiting with friends and family, going on walks with neighbors, and has been very active in her church. As a devoted Christian, she keeps a positive outlook and has been a light in the lives of so many who have had the honor to make her acquaintance.

Due to dialysis treatment – four hours a day, three days a week – she now struggles with extreme fatigue, nausea, and vomiting. Her daily life is very limited, as her lack of strength often prevents her from going to church, walking, sewing, and traveling. She struggles to find a good night’s rest and experiences cramping issues in her legs.

My mom and I are fundraising for the cost of anti-rejection and other medications that will be necessary after the transplant. We also need to cover travel and lodging costs for hospital and doctor appointments as far away as Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA, for herself and those involved with the transplant. Our team estimates this will cost about $10,000. However, this amount could double or triple if she experiences any setbacks or complications.

We are hopeful that this transplant will allow her to get back to her normal life. My mom looks forward to becoming active again with her friends and family.
