Dear Friends and Family

We are writing to you today on behalf of a very special person, Tammy Shelton. Tammy is a courageous woman who suffers from end-stage renal failure. For the past four years she has been on dialysis 7 days a week. Through all of this, Tammy’s determination and fight for life are an inspiration to everyone who knows her. Her never ending faith has kept her focused on survival.

Tammy has struggled through many medical complications and has been hospitalized multiple times. Her doctors have told her that her only option now is a life-saving kidney transplant. She is currently on the active waiting list at Yale Hospital and the Mayo Clinic in Florida. Tammy has been called for transplant but unfortunately she was not able to accept due to lack of funds and was forced to decline.

Even with insurance there are many expenses that are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Some of these expenses are co-pays, deductibles, a caregiver and Tammy will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. In addition if Tammy is called for transplant by the Mayo Clinic, she will have travel and relocation expenses. This is where you help is desperately needed.

A fundraising campaign in Tammy’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
