Tara Hawkin’s “New Lease On Life” Fundraiser

Tara is a 54 year-old poet and artist that has been coping with cirrhosis of the liver since 2012.

Over the last 13 years, Tara has had to reduce many of her daily living activities, due to extreme fatigue and nausea. She works hard every day with the little energy that she has to stay motivated and get on the liver transplant list. She is getting so close to completing all of the requirements to have the opportunity to get a new liver.

Some of the things Tara enjoys are writing poetry, reading a good mystery by Janet Evanovich, taking long walks in the neighborhood, watching movies and meeting up with friends for lunch. She also enjoys quality time at home with her partner, Julianne and their cat, Fluffy B.

Tara has not been able to do some of her very favorite things, such as going back home to visit family and friends in California. Traveling has become a burden and too tiresome to make it from Utah. Tara would love to gain a second chance, where she can get back to the very most important things in her life- people.

Insurance will cover the cost of the transplant. But there will be extra costs, like fuel, travel, food, medicines and emergency needs that cannot be foreseen. This is the part where Tara and Julianne could use the most help and where you could step in to give Tara that second lease on life.

Tara has had a really challenging last decade, and this new liver could be the answer to her crippling fatigue, nausea and general sense of unwellness. She could once again, visit her adoring family, and do the things she was once able to do. This will give her a new lease on life.
