Terry Hammock

Family and friends of Terry Hammock are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Terry has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses, and many have wished to contribute, but didn’t know how.

Terry was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in the fall of 2023 in the first month of retirement. Upon diagnosis, he learned that there is no cure, nor is there any reversal of the damage caused by the disease. In 2024 the disease was fairly manageable until fall; that is when the disease progressed in rapid fashion.

Terry never thought he would consider a double lung transplant, but when the doctors advised “you really need to consider this option because the decline is rapid” he and his wife prayerfully began to pursue the option. They soon found out that Terry’s retirement insurance was inadequate to cover such medical cost. They had to pursue new insurance for the rest of 2025 with new deductibles and new out-of-pocket expenses. The same will go for 2026.

Terry and his wife are confident that the LORD will provide for the uncovered expenses, but they also don’t know exactly where and from whom the provision will come from.

Terry and his wife, Cindy just became grandparents for the fifth time and have another grandchild due in March. While ready for heaven, Terry believes the LORD would be pleased to have him stick around on earth and invest with his family for some more years. A successful transplant would help accomplish this. The double lung transplant surgery is one of the most difficult transplant surgeries that there is. Therefore, Terry and his wife will have to move to St. Louis to be close to the hospital for 3-4 months for daily follow-up.
