Terry Smith

Four years ago My brother-in-law Terry Smith was hospitalized with Covid. Terry remained in the hospital for a few weeks as Covid ravaged his lungs. Thankfully Terry survived but has suffered from Long-haul Covid and after many, many bouts of pneumonia Terry has developed multiple lung diseases and was told that he would need a lung transplant. 

Terry and my sister, Rene’ are at Duke this week for his preliminary appointments and to their devastation have learned that he will need a double lung transplant. 

Terry is very, very sick and the Duke doctors have informed them that he has been moved up the list, as his oxygen levels (even on full oxygen) are so low that he can not survive very long without the transplant. 

They are very blessed to have medical insurance but face many, many financial obstacles as they must move to the Durham area for a minimum of three months while they go through this process. My sister will be driving back and forth for work and will be paying a care-giver to help with Terry’s needs when she is gone. 

Terry & Rene’ have such huge hearts and are the first to reach out when someone is in need. Now they are the ones that are in need and I am praying that we can raise enough to help them on this journey.
