Help Tom Get A Liver Transplant!

Tom Booth is as down-to-earth a man as the Midwestern soil he calls home. At 67, his wry and spunky personality houses a kind and generous soul. He is a man of great character and integrity. He is a great friend and neighbor, and a true asset to his community, to know him is to love him. Many of you know him from his help repairing a broken fence, coaching your kid’s baseball team, or remodeling your home or anything else those needed. And if you have a keen interest in sports, he’s the perfect friend to watch a game (or two or three!) with.

Tom and Ellen have been married for over 40 years. They have two children, Clayton and Edan, who are both happily married. Their grandchildren, Evelyn, 7, and Charlotte, 5, have brought a lot of joy to their lives, and a third grandchild – a boy! -is expected this spring. Tom is eagerly looking forward to meeting his grandson and raising another generation of Packers fans along with a fishing and tinkering partner. Tom’s family has always been number one to him.

Tom is struggling with end stage liver disease. At this time, his only hope of survival is a liver transplant. Transplants are life saving but financially draining, more than a family alone can afford. Even with insurance, Tom is facing very high expenses including relocation for six months to be closer to Northwestern Hospital, post-transplant medications of up to $1,200 a month, co-pays, lab fees and more.

To help with the financial burden of Tom’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by Help Hope Live in the North-Central Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
