Thomas Gibson

On August 20,2023 Tommy dived into his families pool. Nothing unusual, nothing outlandish. It’s something he has done numerous times. Just a simple dive. However this time a severe accident occurred. Tommy suffered a C-6 Spinal Cord Injury. He was hospitalized for a 100 days due to complications with his lungs he was intubated and was placed on a ventilator. He was treated at Copper Hospital Trauma Unit Jefferson Hospital and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Tommy struggles with hand function and is paralysis below the waist.

Tommy grew up playing baseball. He was coaching before the accident. He played collegiate baseball at Penn State University, Rowan College of South Jersey Gloucester County, and Shephard University. He graduated with a degree in Health Promotion and Exercise Science in May of 2024.

Tommy attends Magee and Project Walk for physical therapy . He is getting stronger everyday. His goals are to be able to transfer in and out of his wheelchair, improve hand function, and get back to coaching. He would also like to get his certification to become a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Donations will go for more physical therapy visits, as insurance only covers 30 sessions a year and to get his car modified so he can get around on his own and get back to work and coaching.
