Hello, my name is Thomas. I am married to my beautiful wife, and we are proud parents of a beautiful young woman.

If you look at me and I haven’t shared my life journey with you. You may conclude I didn’t have health issues.

Over the years, doctors, family members, and close friends all say I’m a walking miracle. I faced many medical challenges, and I experienced victories repeatedly.

My very long medical journey began shortly before my 16th birthday. I was diagnosed with lupus nephritis, an autoimmune disease that attacked my kidneys.

Having lupus was just the start of my Life Journey. Over the years, I have received three separate kidney transplants. I have undergone numerous abdomen surgeries, including removing my spleen and gallbladder. I have also experienced countless life-threatening procedures, including being placed into a medically induced coma on two separate occasions.

During all my medical challenges, I’ve always been blessed and humble. I Was Able to maintain all my financial obligations, including medical commitments.

Unfortunately, I’ve had major medical setbacks over the past two years, including a medical accident during a routine hospital procedure.
I was undergoing a procedure called an EDG, where a tube is placed down your throat to view the contents of your stomach. Once the procedure ended the staff attempted to remove the scope position to visually see the inside of my stomach as they retracted the tube. The tube sucked up stomach contents that went straight into my lungs, causing pneumonia, an emergent infection and I was unable to breathe. I was placed into a medically induced coma, and a tracheotomy tube was put into my lungs, and a machine lived for me. I was then transferred to ICU.

After some time passed, Doctors gave up on my care, they told my wife there was nothing else they could do for me, and began preparing her for a terrible outcome. With the Doctors grime prognosis I was moved from ICU and placed in palliative care.

During my stay in palliative care, I began to show signs of improvement.

They convinced my wife to send me to a particular hospital that treated patients who had expertise with patients with tracheotomy tubes and removal. All this took place over three months. I awoke to see my beautiful wife smiling at me. She informed me of what happened and explained how I needed to learn how to walk, talk and eat again.

I usually bounce back very quickly to my normal Health status, but this time it took several hard months to learn to walk the correct way, just as I started showing real signs of improvement. Until I had to undergo emergent surgery to repair an enlarged Aorta. The procedure required cracking open my chest plate and wired back together. The dangerous surgery went well; however, all therapy that I learned before the surgery regressed, and I had to struggle again to walk without assistance.

Unfortunately, health-wise I have many more challenges ahead. Starting with major oral surgery and numerous dental visits after. I must also undergo more medical procedures, physical therapy, and possibly more surgeries.

I hope this tiny part of my life journey will encourage you and everyone around you. I know my story is not over. I pray your spirit moves you to help me with a donation.
