Thomas Hicks

Family and friends of Thomas Hicks are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a kidney transplant.

Even after insurance coverage, the cost to Tom could be $6000-$10,000 or more. This is just for the cost of the transplant. It does not include any other expenses that may be inured.

After a “high risk” maneuver on the monkey bars at school, Tom, at the age of 10, discovered that he had the same Poly-cystic Kidney disease as his father. In 1987 his dad went on dialysis and had a transplant in 1990. Tom has been on dialysis since September of 2017 and has already received a call for a transplant. Unfortunately, the kidney was non-viable.

Tom is a 1988 graduate of Muskegon High School where he played Euphonium (aka: barritone) in the band and was on the swim team. He is also1992 graduate of Calvin College (University now) with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Tom is also an eight year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3306 where he served as chaplain for 2 years. In addition, Tom is a member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church where he leads an adult Bible study

Tom is the dog dad to two dogs and an awesome uncle to 3 nieces and 3 nephews. He loves photography, reading, and hockey.

Thomas has chosen to fund raise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors.
