Tim was an extremely active individual his entire life. He started playing drums at the age of 5 years old and playing in bands at the age of 14. Baseball was his first sports love, starting at 5 and playing into his 60’s. He worked for decades in the trades while continuing to feed his sports hunger by playing golf and bowling while still playing in a band into his 70’s.

   His favorites were baseball and golf but was willing to try anything that would test his competitive nature. All this came to an end when diagnosed with IPF.

IPF(idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) is a disease that crystallizes the air sacs in your lungs preventing air exchange. The only cure was a transplant which is very difficult in and of itself.

   Since his double lung transplant September 19, 2024, he has started on the long road to recovery. While insurances have paid the majority of the hospital bills, the follow-up visits, medications, and other procedures and tests that come up as a result of the anti rejection medications are starting to deplete his small retirement savings and his life insurance.

   Prior to surgery, knowing Tim’s lifestyle of playing drums, singing and sports, when asked by the doctors what he hoped to gain from the lung transplant, his response was as follows;

      “As much as I loved playing music and singing to bring people joy and playing sports to satisfy my competitive hunger which I consider to be life’s dessert, the real meal is faith, family and friends. If I never play another beat, sing another note, swing another club or roll another ball, I will be grateful to have the time and ability to practice my faith, enjoy my family and watch them grow, and spent time with my friends making new memories”

 Our family and friends of Tim Tench are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant.

Tim has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
