Timothy Buterbaugh

Family and friends of Timothy Buterbaugh are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Injury. Timothy has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Tim is a devoted single father who was born with a birth defect called Complete Terminal Fibular Hemimelia. which left him without most of his right leg. Although he had spent his life disabled and in chronic pain, his overwhelming desire to be a father and a family man took precedence over his own disabilities. 

Tim loves spending time with his family and friends as well as playing board games, watching films, and sitting around a campfire. He loves all animals. His ability to make those around him feel important and loved is a true gift; his empathetic and kind nature isn’t just learned, but part of his fundamental human nature.

Tim’s physical struggles have left him unable to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and ultimately work. His knee is basically useless because of years of wear and tear while supporting his heavy prosthetic. He has to rely on family and friends for transportation for daily activities such as grocery shopping, doctor’s visits, and even taking his children to school. We live in Avalon, which in one of two boroughs in Pittsburgh that does not have a school bus line.  

Tim is fundraising for a car and disabled driving classes and equipment. None of this is covered by Medicaid. He and his family must raise nearly $6,000 to make his dream of independence come true. This is very difficult while trying to pay for basic living expenses. With a car and driver’s license, he will be able to take his kids to school, drive himself and his children to doctor’s appointments, and even help his aging father get around for daily necessities. He also wants  to give back to the community by driving other disabled people to doctor’s appointments and for basic necessities.
