Timothy Tonsel

My name is Tim Tonsel, an Army veteran, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, who urgently needs a kidney transplant to save my life, due to end-stage renal disease.

These past few years spent battling kidney failure, have been some of the most challenging of my life. And while my dialysis has been life-sustaining, a fact for which I will be forever grateful to my Fresenius dialysis team, it is not intended to be a permanent solution.

Now entering my fourth year of dialysis treatment, these four-hour sessions, three times weekly, have become much more difficult for my body to recover from. Over the course of the past year, I’ve lost my ability to work full-time because of the considerable time commitment required. As I find myself increasingly unable to get through everyday tasks, and ones that bring me joy like spending time with my loved ones and traveling.

I have mostly taken these setbacks in stride, but I will admit that this has begun to affect my overall sense of well being and my quality of life. I remain grateful for everything in my life and the love and support that I have received. But, I am also very much looking forward to the prospect of getting back to a good place in my health journey.

To help support me during this critical time, we are kindly asking for donations to help cover medical expenses related to my kidney transplant. Your generous contributions will assist with the transplant process for medical expenses. No amount is too small, and every contribution is greatly appreciated!

I am excited to share that I have been accepted into the transplant program at Johns Hopkins. However, this process comes with many costs that we are having difficulty covering, beyond just the medical bills, but other expenses related to the transplant that insurance does not cover. These include travel, lodging, and aftercare expenses for both me and the living donor, who has very kindly agreed to be part of this life-saving journey. Every donation, significantly impacts my path to recovery.
